The Texas Independent College Foundation was organized in 1952 as a partnership between corporate philanthropy and the private colleges and universities in Texas. The TICF mission is to raise funds for scholarships and other resources for students and to serve as an advocate to perpetuate the distinctive values and contributions of independent higher education. Membership is open to all non-profit two- and four-year private colleges in Texas that are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The Board of Directors of TICF is composed of the member- college and university presidents and business and community leaders throughout the state. The Board meets twice a year and acts through its executive committee in the interim. The president of TICF serves as the chief executive officer.

TICF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, tax-exempt under federal and state laws, and is affiliated with the Foundation for Independent Higher Education, Washington D.C., representing the 34 state and regional funds.
